Microsoft announced at the Ignite 2019 event the Microsoft Endpoint Manager which integrates Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Desktop Analytics, Autopilot and the Device Management Admin Center into one solution.

Endpoint Management with Co-Management

Most Enterprise customers today use ConfigMgr for updates, security and deployment for their PCs and servers. And they use Intune (or a competitor solution) to manage their mobile devices. To shift to modern management and starting to use cloud intelligence you can now attach Intune to the ConfigMgr Deployment (Intune tenant attach). This will be available in the 1910 release of ConfigMgr. You then can also register the ConfigMgr devices with Intune (which is called co-management). This also offers you the possibility for a low-risk transition to a fully Cloud model.

Microsoft also clearly makes the commitment, that ConfigMgr will continue to exist and is and will be part of the new experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager. So they will continue to invest in ConfigMgr.

BitLocker management is moving to Intune and Configuration Manager

As you probably already heard about, the Mainstream Support for Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Management (MBAM) ended in July 2019, there is still an extended support until July 2024, after that you have the choice between using Intune or Configuration Manager and you will get there all of the MBAM features.

Licensing

If a Company has already ConfigMgr licenses, they will also get Intune licenses and so they can easily use Intune to co-manage their Windows devices. In addition to that, to manage non-Windows devices with Microsoft Endpoint Manager, either an Intune license, an Enterprise Mobility & Security (EMS) license or a Microsoft 365 E3 or higher license is necessary.
